Attractions of Mersing
Mersing is a small town lying at the Northeast of the state of Johor, best known for being the main departure point for ferries going to the famous Pulau Tioman and Pulau Rawa. It is a unique place with plenty of attractions that is often overlooked as a transfer point to Johor’s beautiful islands.
Mersing is a great place to discover by foot or renting a bike. There are many beautiful beaches that rivals those in the islands, and there are parks along the coastline that boast a nice panoramic view of the ocean.
Rawa Island
Rawa Island is a coral island in Mersing, Johor. Rawa Island is well known for Malaysia and Singapore tourists who often come to enjoy its white sand beaches, having a snorkelling and scuba diving activities. There is daily ferry services from Mersing to Rawa Island.
Rawa Island is a relatively a small and tiny island, there are no proper roads. The island is surrounded by white sand and super clear water. There are many sea creatures such as fishes, squids, jellyfih, eagles and even reptiles.
Air Papan Beach
Air Papan Beach is a popular destination for tourists who fancy a swim and some fun under the sun. It is well known for the fishing spot too. Plus, ‘Pesta Air Papan’ or Air Papan Festival is held annually on May 1st at the Air Papan Beach.

Tioman Island

A panoramic view of the island is by itself awe-inspiring! From splendid rocky cliffs to a gigantic ocean of spellbinding blue, it is overwhelmingly picturesque. Pulau Tioman is also home to several attractions. About a two-hour ferry ride from Mersing, tourists will, however, be required to take another transit to their resorts.

Tinggi Island
The island nicknamed the “General’s Hat Island” by the seamen who came here centuries ago is a good place to start. The island called Pulai Tinggi (also known as Tinggi Island) is a secluded, uninhabited island rising about 2000ft above sea level.
The main island is large and surrounding it are eight smaller islets which promise you a holiday in seclusion, serenity and beauty of nature. This is definitely the perfect place for a gateway to relax, unwind and enjoy yourself as you sunbathe on the beautiful stretches of beach here. The island is secluded from the mainland.

Sibu Island
Sibu Island (also known as Pulau Sibu) is situated on the eastern part of Johor. This beautiful island will definitely take your breath away. It is a perfect gateway if all you want is a secluded spot, with a beautiful view of the never ending horizon and an amazing stretch of white sandy beach to take lazy evening strolls on. Sibu Island is the best place to have your honey moon at as well.
